About the Event

After a covid enforced break, we are back to doing what we do best - an intensive training camp at The Training Base in Sussex delivering a packed schedule of practical workshops and sessions on and off the court with a host of experts.

Doubles is such an integral part of every player pathway, and we are fortunate enough to be joined by a player who has achieved something that many only dream of - Jonny Marray became the first British man since 1936 to lift the Wimbledon Mens Doubles trophy, when he and partner Freddie Nielsen came through the field to lift the trophy in 2012. Learn about the initricacies of the British Doubles system, and how to implement key patterns and plays into your own game.

In addition, the psychological aspect plays such a pivotal role in player development at every level of the game - we will be joined by Richard De Souza, who has worked with countless top British players. Richard will run an integrative one day workshop on the mental aspects of the game, increasing awareness of and how to excel in it.

Day three see's a college style dual match with all players battling for their respective teams in UTR/WTN singles and doubles matches.

Date: Sunday 8th August - Wednesday 11th August.

Cost: £300

Player Number: Maximum of 24 players

Arrival time: 6pm Sunday 8th August - BBQ, introductions and team draft.

Camp Content: The camp will offer 9 hours of daily contact time, and cover two key areas that are integral to tennis at every level a doubles specialist and sports psychologist theme, while discussing the 4 pathways available to all British student-athletes. On court instruction with Wimbledon winner Jonny Marray and Sports Psychologist Richard De Souza, while players attend Q/A’s with former American/British university student-athletes and American University college coaches.

The whole camp will be competition based, where each team accumulates points throughout the first 2 days, finishing off with 2 college style dual matches on the Wednesday.

The camp is a wonderful way to not only learn new skills to help further your on court development but to plan for the future by being aware of the pathways available to you.

Finish: 5pm 11th August.

Housing: We will endeavor to help as many players as we can with housing.

Update: We have a few spaces left for this camp, please contact Sarah Borwell on info@tennissmart.ne to register and make payment.
