BEHIND THE
STUDENT OF THE GAME
The Student of the Game camps are the brainchild of former British players Sarah Borwell and Barry Fulcher. Their shared desire to provide a better support network for British junior players and parents was the motivation to put together these camps. Sarah and Barry's broad range of experience in all areas of the tennis world equips them to guide, support and educate transitioning junior players as they head in to their pivotal teenage years. They have sought out a team of consultants and experts in their fields to deliver elite content to Student of the Game participants.

Sarah Borwell
Director, Co-Founder
Having experienced the ups and downs of the domestic system as a junior player, Sarah headed to the United states and attended the University of Houston on a tennis scholarship. There, she developed her game and confidence before launching a successful career on the WTA Tour reaching 65 in the world and British No 1 in Doubles.
Passionate about helping aspiring student-athletes, Sarah developed the LTA American college program in 2006, which later grew into Tennis Smart; the first company dedicated solely to helping place British tennis players & the only company with the greater goal of stopping the drop out rate in British Tennis by offering clear pathways.
With 15 years of experience, Sarah has an intricate knowledge of all four pathways and can help guide students towards the right fit for them .
Straight out of school, Barry followed a path into full-time tennis, and after four years of touring the World, had achieved an ATP ranking of 680 (GB No 13) and 400 in Doubles.
Barry went on to study as a mature student at The University of East Anglia, whilst continuing to compete domestically, and also began a career in coaching. Barry has over 17 years coaching experience, working at private clubs, high performance academies across the UK, and managing programmes at all levels of the game.
Barry has worked and travelled extensively with teams of international players, and grand-slam level junior and professional players, and is the creator of The Training Base programme, as well as The Progress Tour
